CBC Searchlight Contest

I started this tune on Valentine’s Day (Feb 14). I just finished it, using the tools learned in Pat Pattison’s Songwriting course to adjust the phrasing. I also finished all the tracking, playing all the parts, singing all the vocals as well as recording it here in my home studio. I hope you like it.

Mother Dear

I lost my mother on Feb 21, 1999. The very next evening, I wrote this song for her.

Please take a listen — the message is all contained in the lyrics.

Goodbye 2012; Hello 2013!

2012 was, for me, a very significant year. A lot of great music was performed with Age of Reason, Blackboard Blues Band, Six String Mojo and Weathered Kings. As well, I met a lot of great musicians who have become friends and started performing at various Open Mic Nights in Mississauga and Toronto. I loved it so much, I started my own Open Mic Night on Wednesday evenings at The Drake & Firkin here in Mississauga. I also had the chance to record some talented artists here in my playD studio and help them…

2012-Feb

Most of my updates have been 'tweeted' on my Twitter feed or my BLOG (see above); however, there are a number of film projects that were completed in 2011 and I have 3 film projects already booked for 2012.  Check out the latest film projects and other credits here.

I just completed a project for Scott Jones, a 16 year-old songwriter and performer.  Together with his twin brother, Mark, we completed a demo of 3 original songs Scott brought to me earlier this fall.

The three of us sat down and finished writing each tune, followed by the laying down of 'bed' tracks and guide vocals. Scott played piano and organ on the tracks and then I arranged and performed the remaining instrumental tracks (save for the drum tracks, which were done by a good friend of mine, Dan Serbin -- thanks, Dan!).

Scott and Mark laid down the various vocal tracks, after which, I mixed each track and accomplished the mastering.

This is a fine example of the additional services I can provide to your project (songwriting, producing & arranging).

You can
listen to a sample of each tune here.

There is a  new film I'll be working on (as composer), Suffer the Little Children -- an adaptation of the Stephen King short story.   Suffer the Little Children is an independent short film based on the story by Stephen King. The independently-financed 30 minute short film will be shot late this summer in Mississauga and the surrounding areas.

Check out
Moonlit Road Entertainment for more information.

I have also joined Moonlit Road Entertainment team as their Resident Composer.
